Mercer Science and Engineering Fair Judging
Check MSEF Judging for additional information on judging the Mercer Science and Engineering Fair.
Looking to help out with the Mercer Science and Engineering Fair? We might be able to use your expertise as a judge. If so then send an email note to Bob Bushar, our judge coordinator.
Judges should have at least a bachelors degree and/or work experience in a scientific or engineering field. Judges will judge projects within their area of expertise although it might be wider than you might think.
Judging takes place on Sunday evening (optional) and Monday morning. Senior division judges must attend the Sunday and Monday sessions. Junior division judging occurs on Sunday and Elementary is on Monday. Elementary and Junior judging is based on the projects' display board. Senior judging includes interviewing the students on Monday.
Check out the events list for the dates and times for judging this year.
The only restriction we have is that you not judge any division where you have students that are related to you in some fashion. This means parents, teachers, and mentors. You may judge divisions where you do not have such a relationship. For example, if you have a child that is participating in the Senior division but none in the Elementary division then you could be a judge in the Elementary division.
To get started, sign up for an account on this website and check off Judge on the application. Then log in and fill in the judge profile page that provides us information on your background, availability and what divisions you would like to judge. We normally have pizza on Sunday and breakfast and lunch on Monday.
We are always available to answer questions.
